Don Quixote ballet

Well, as I've already said, I'm not really fond of classical art. But as my mom somehow managed to get two tickets for the ballet for free we decided to buy one more and to go all together (I mean my mom, my sister and me).

When going to some concerts or other events I really like watching the audience. This time it seemed that there were mainly some ballet fans (mainly elderly people), foreigners (as attending russian ballet is considered to be one of the tusks to accomplish when touring Russia) and some kids (taken on an excursion from school). And yes, we still have the culture of dressing up all nicely when going to ballet or opera.

The piece itself turned out pretty entertaining. Actually I expected it to be really boring, but the young lively characters managed to keep you following them. The ballet consisted of three parts. Actually we watched only two, 'cause my mom was tired after a long day at work and we left earlier. I liked the first part better. There was more action and there was some kind of plot. The dancers performed almost with the expression of some drama actors. The second part was somewhat more technical, it was devided in several parts, in each stared one dancer performing some difficult jumps or movements. You know it really amazes me to see what people can reach by constant trainings and by puting their soul in what the are doing. But on the other hand there was no particular meaning in that - just to watch beautiful dances (which gets boring after an hour). May be if I had some deeper knowledge of the art it would make some sence to me. Anyway it was a good show and I don't regret going to see it.

Bolshoi Theatre web page here in the upper right corner you can see some pics of the performers.

  1. Thank you for good report. I understand that I have to bear some boring time when I have a chance to watch this classical ballet.

  2. Yes, I think you will. By the way, do you like to watch movies? or may be going to some other type of theatre?

  3. Recently, the chance to watch movies for me is decreasing. One reason of this situation is that it is too long for me to watch a movie. Usually, it takes more than one and half hour, it is too long, I think. If I have such long time, I would like to do other thing. My last chance to see a movie was at a plane to return back to Japan from NYC in 2007. The movie title was Lemy's Latatuye(I am not sure about its spell.)

Of course, I do not deny these entertaiment.

In NYC, I watch a musical named "Hair Spray". But, I could not enjoy it very well because I could not understand all English that the actors spoke and sung.

If I have a lot of time and have a free ticket for a play a or movie, I am pleased to go seeing it.

  4. Oh, I see. Sure, they do make movies too long recently, sometimes it's really a pain to spend 2-3 hours on a movie without any meaning.
