Sochi 2014

Here's the promo video of winter Olympics in Sochi 2014, that is broadcasted on our TV. I don't think they will ever show it abroad, because it is aimed at russian people. The main piculiarity of it is its text. I guess it'll be hard to understand it, unless you've lived in the country for quite a time and you understand the way we think. It's based on inconsistency of our people, of our emotions and acts, and that's why it so understandable for us.



Here' s the translation I've tried to make, each phrase reminds of lots of things, that are our everyday life. So if you find it hard to get, what smth means, just ask me about a particular line, and I'll try to explain it.

We are people of extremes.
We work hard to earn money in the North and we spend it easily in the South.
We drive offroad as well (good) as on road.
Even the New Year can be an old one by us.
When we win, it’s for long.
We believe in ourselves in such a way, that we make others believe in us, too.
It won’t be usual with us.
It will be great Olympic Games.
Olympics of the whole country, Olympics of everyone.
